Most brands cater to the most common undertones, therefore you may "default" to the lightest tone, and lean on a standard brown colors for the eye pallet, etc. Does your skin have yellow or pink undertones? Is it warm, cool or neutral? Feel like you're playing a guessing game? By taking the time to learn how to identify your undertone can help you put your best face forward
Below are some key tips on researching your skin tone! Of course, we recommend scheduling an appointment with our team to putting your "best face forward."
Learn what your “undertone” is.
Eye and Hair Color
If your hair color is blonde, brown, or black, and your eyes are lighter, then you likely have “cool” undertones. This means your skin has pink or blue undertones.
If your hair color is red, blonde, or black, and your eyes are brown, hazel, or green, then you likely have “warm” undertones. This means your skin has yellow or gold undertones.
Check Out Your Veins
Look at your veins under your skin. If they have a bluish color, then you have cool undertones. If they’re something more greenish, they you have warm undertones.
Gold or Silver Jewelry: What are you?
This may be obvious, but when choosing your jewelry, do you go to gold or silver? If the answer is silver, it’s likely that you have cool undertones. If the answer is gold, then it’s likely you have warm undertones.
None of These Are Quite Right....
It is possible that you have neutral undertones, which means your really neither cool or warm.
Colors that Look Best on You
If you’ve got warm tones -- earth tones, gold, bronzes, etc. If you have cool tones -- jewel toned, pinks, blues, and purples.
If you’re looking to correct color, you’ll want to go with something that’s on the opposite end of the color spectrum. So if you’ve got gold undertones, go with something blue or greenish.
If you have warm undertones, you look best when you wear eye shadows that are gold, copper, bronze or any of the earth tones (orange, olive, yellow or brown) paired with a warm peach or coral blush. When picking out your perfect red lipstick, choose an orange-based red and when choosing your foundation, look for a yellow-based or peach-based shade.
If you have cool undertones, you look best when you wear eye shadows that are silver, grey, magenta, pink, white or any of the jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, garnet) paired with a cool pink or rosy blush. When picking out your perfect red lipstick, choose a blue-based red and when choosing your foundation, look for a pink-based or neutral shade.
Thee End.
