Biome + Breast

 [ Fact ]

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women (after skin cancer) where 1 in 8 women will develop the disease in their lifetimes.

A recent study unveiled by highly respected Cleveland Clinic has verified a link to breast cancer being directly triggered by elevated inflammation and gene interaction from bacterial growth within the breast tissue.

PRO-biotic Intervention
It has been reported that researchers have long suspected that a bacteria lives within breast tissue and plays a role in breast cancer while suggesting that the microbes in the gut may regulate estrogen levels, leading to estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer.

This insight brings even more attention and importance around preventative through everyday nutritional decisions in adding support for maintaining a healthy micro-flora ecosystem.

A display of the results from this study. The purple spike on the left describes the large presence of Methylobacterium species among non-Cancer patients.

THE STUDY

Breast cancer linked to bacterial imbalances

"Women with breast cancer had higher relative abundances of BacillusEnterobacteriaceae and StaphylococcusEscherichia coli (member of the Enterobacteriaceae family) and Staphylococcus epidermidis.

HOW it happens.
1.
Certain bacteria strains triggers inflammation.
2.
The inflammation damages DNA in chromosomes of cells lining of the milk ducts.
3.
When cells split and create two new cells the damage can be copied into the DNA of the new cells.

4.
If enough errors are copied it can contribute to the development of breast cancer.

In the end...
Lactic acid producing bacteria such as Lactobacillus strains were fewer in number as well. These bacteria are known for beneficial health effects including having cancer preventing properties.

In Summary: Researchers have uncovered differences in the bacterial composition of breast tissue of healthy women vs. women with breast cancer. The research team has discovered for the first time that healthy breast tissue contains more of the bacterial species Methylobacterium, a finding which could offer a new perspective in the battle against breast cancer.

Assess and Test
A microbiome assessment and  advanced gene marker test are available to learn more about the current microbiome within the body.

Testing is highly recommended for those that suffer from Chron's, IBS and mental instability such as high levels of anxiety and depression.
